Creating Outside / Plein Air

Plein air is the French term, meaning "fresh air" and means these paintings were created outside, on location across various scenic spots in the Pacific Northwest.

My art practice is primarily studio-based, but it is still wonderful to paint outside particularly in fine weather! Working quickly to capture the changing light, before a wind gust carries things away - that's the fun and the challenge.
